Prompt of the Day - Evaluating an Online Hint or Tree Caiming a Patriot

Use this prompt when you find an online tree containing an person of the same name as your known patriot and you want to evaluate whether or not your ancestor is the same as the one in the tree. 

You will provide information from the online tree.

Critically evaluate the argument using good genealogical standards.

Separate assertions from evidence.

Point out weaknesses, logical leaps, or missing records.

Suggest what would be needed to turn this into a convincing proof.

    Do not invent facts, dates, relationships, records, or sources.
    If information cannot be determined from the evidence provided, state "Insufficient evidence."
    Clearly separate facts, inferences, and hypotheses.
    Cite the specific evidence supporting each conclusion.
    Do not fill gaps with assumptions, even if they seem likely.
